Minnesota Stewardship Stories Application Open 2025

Upstream is seeking passionate Minnesotans who celebrate and care for our state’s natural places! If you have a unique way of caring for Minnesota’s outdoor spaces and want to inspire others to do the same, apply to join the Care for Place Fellowship. 🌎🌱💻

This fellowship will gather 5 Minnesotans from across the state, who receive a $250 stipend per story to share about how they are caring for Minnesota’s natural spaces. Fellows will write three engaging pieces between December 2024 and April 2025 that capture their unique journey and spark stewardship in others.

Fellowship Dates

January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025

Fellowship Requirements

Write 4 stories, each piece must be between 300-500 words and include at least 2 photos.

Story 1: Loving Where We Live – who you are and why do you love where you live?
Story 2: Care for Place – what inspires you to care for your natural places.
Story 3: Care for Place – how do you care for Minnesota’s natural places? and what’s the next step for your stewardship journey.
Story 4: Confluence Stories – co-writing a story with another fellow on inspiring greater stewardship across difference in Minnesota.

Attend Care for Place Fellowship Workshop on Monday, January 6th from 12pm-1pm or Wednesday, January 8th from 12pm-1pm via Zoom

Upstream channels our shared love of Minnesota’s natural places into greater trust, connection and stewardship. We are a campaign bringing together people of all backgrounds — political, racial, ethnic and geographic — to celebrate our natural places and inspire more people to steward this state we love.
