Know someone making a big difference?

From cleaning up local parks to growing pollinator-friendly gardens, Unsung Caretakers are everyday Minnesotans who step up to care for the places we all share. Their efforts often go unseen, but they’re helping Minnesota thrive.

Help us recognize the neighbors, students, farmers, artists, and organizers who embody what it means to care for our land, water, and communities.

Introducing Upstream Artist Fellow: @andprados from Granite Falls. A little bit about Dani's art:"Playing on the idea of "heirlooms," I will be creating jewel-reminiscent, resin-cast sculptures of various plants whose storied existence in Minnesota is a gift to be treasured, reminding us we are the temporary caretakers of these precious heirloom plants to preserve and pass them down for the next generations. Some of these will be displayed locally with playful information about the plants, while some will be mailed in a curated package including the sculpture, seeds, plant memoir, directions, and a letter written from the last caretaker to a short list of recipients who will each be offered the opportunity to house the sculpture for a week, and keep the letter and some seeds. Each recipient will then mail the package to the next on the list, enclosing their own letter on their experience with the heirloom." — from Instagram
