Sam was selected as a 2022/2023 Upstream Artist Fellow and was excited to embark on a creative journey, weaving together tradition and stewardship. ⁠⁠His project was not only educational but also a "call for action". Each piece in the series has an educational sample next to them with the names in Ojibwe as well as the scientific name. The work also includes uses and descriptions as to why the flower was chosen.⁠⁠Did you know? Each bead tells a story of Minneapolis' native flowers – their significance, struggles, and beauty.
